La Pata Gorda is a nice restaurant with good food and decent prices. We had made reservations and our table was ready when promised. Once seated, our waiter promptly took care of drinks and appetizers. Conchitas were on the salty side, and crab claws were simple but delicious. We also ordered cazuela de mariscos, encebollado, grilled corvina (catch of the day), and Chopsue. Everything was good. In my opinion, the Cazuela de mariscos was too thick. But it had a good flavor. The ambiance is nice, and the service was attentive. The restaurant looks good and very clean.
Nelson was top notch with his service. Food was absolutely fire. 10/10 recommend eating here !
Todo estuvo delicioso. La comida muy tica y el ambiente muy comodo. Nerea nos atendió super bien!
Amazing Ecuadorian food. Byron was our waiter and service was phenomenal. Ambiance of the restaurant was A1
Outstanding Ecuadorian seafood cuisine. We ordered the fish soup aka Encebollado. It had fantastic and very rich flavor. It was served with a side of plantain chips and very savory cassava with plentiful chunks of fish and onions. We added shrimp to our soup and also order a side of fried plantains with cheese. Both tasted VERY delicious. As for drink Passionfruit juice that was very refreshing and sweet. The venue is small but it has a very welcoming and beautiful decoration. We didn't have a reservation when we arrived but someone cancelled and we were able to find a table very soon. The staff was very friendly and Junior took great care of us. I highly recommend this restaurant for the service and the seafood cuisine.
Being Ecuadorian I wanted to try this place as the reviews were great and the food looked great. Do yourself a favor and get the "maduro con queso" so simple yet delicious! The restaurant is welcoming, elegant, and friendly. Service was good. I asked my waiter for recommendations and he said "CHOPSUÉ" was their most popular dish. I tried it and the dish itself had an awesome presentation that grabs your attention. What disappointed me a bit was the amount of rice vs the amount of actually protein. Is like 70% rice. With the being said the flavor was good. But I wouldn't recommend the Crab Fat. Very strong taste as it's a crab that grows in the mangroves. I should've went for the "BANDERA LPG" since it had a lot more different types of food to try. Don't make the same mistake and get a Bandera, don't fall for the hype. Bandera will allow you to try various dishes and flavors. That's what I'm going to order on the my next visit.
Unexpectedly, I was in Miami overnight after one of those travel days! Thankfully, Miami is a cool city to find great food! After looking on Yelp, I came across La Pata Gorda and I wanted to check it out! I made a same day reservation for one. I utilized ride-share so I can't comment on parking but it's on a street called Miracle Mile with lots of shops and dining options. I was warmly greeted and seated upon arrival. My server was Byron and he was very knowledgeable about the menu. La Pata Gorda is Ecuadorian cuisine focused on seafood, specifically, crab. Every dish has seafood, which is great for me but sharing in case you've ever dined with someone who goes to a seafood restaurant for poultry or steak! The restaurant is what I'd call boho-chic and it didn't feel awkward to dine alone there. Food: I ordered grilled conchas as an appetizer. The presentation came with fire that lasted for 3-4 minutes! For the main course, I had Chopsué. This was an interesting dish. Not bad, but also if I returned, I'd try something else. Drinks: I had a tequila sour (like a pisco sour) and the restaurant provided a shot on the house. It was cream based with a mint liqueur. All in all, I had a great dining experience and the food was good.
Byron was a fantastic server and the food was exceptional. Cool design inside. Great cocktails (happy hour until 7pm was a great deal!!!) Right on Miracle Mile. Must try when I'm Coral Gables
About last night.... Ecuadorian cuisine at its finest. This spot is a "must try" if your into Latin seafood cuisine. We started with the La Pata Gorda Platter which contained Jipijapa ceviche, seafood chicharrón, crab and shrimp salad and our signature mangrove crab claws. This appetizer could be an entire meal, delicious and super fresh. As the main we chose the Seafood Parilla which had a mixture of Grilled octopus, wild prawns, catch of the day, calamari and shrimp with our special criolla sauce and creamy lentil moro (rice). This was so tasty and fresh, those prawns were huge, fresh and succulent as was the octopus. The service is without question top tier, you know you're in a well run establishment when you walk in. I have already made reservations to return to this awesome spot. If you're in Coral Gables I highly recommend this spot if you're in the mood for Latin seafood cuisine.
